RECIPE
3 cups multi-purpose flour
ยณ/โด cup milk/water
3ยน/ยฒtbsp unsalted butter (softened)
1 egg
ยณ/โดsalt
1 tablespoon of active dried yeast
ยน/โด cup sugar
PROCEDURE
Step 1 – In a bowl, add in the milk, sugar, salt, yeast ,egg and give it a good mix. Then add in the softened unsalted butter and flour and mix everything together until we get a saggy mass of dough.
Transfer the dough on to a clean work surface cause we’ll need to knead the dough with our hands for 6 minutes then we’ll get a very soft and smooth dough, add little water to the dough and knead it once again for few minutes then cover the dough in a bowl and let it rest for 15 minutes
Step 2- Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces, take each portion of the dough, degas the dough then tuck in the edges towards the centre and roll it into small round balls, cover the dough in a bowl and let it rest for another 15 minutes
Step 3- Press on top of the ball to flatten it a bit, gentle press in the middle of the dough ball with the top of thumb to form a small hole then widen the hole using fingers to form the shape of a doughnuts, placed the donuts on a parchment lined baking tray and leave to rest once again. Heat enough vegetable oil to deep fry the donuts until it is golden brown.
Serve warm with dust powdered sugar or milk
